Below is a list of some of the fantastic golf courses you’ll find located near these communities.
Olde Point Country Club
Built in 1974 and opened to the public in 1975, The Olde Point Country Club has evolved into a lovely 18 hole course with Paspalum greens and Bermuda fairways. Designer Jerry Turner made use of the beautiful rolling hills and wooded terrain available in Southeast NC to build a golf course that is equally challenging and scenic.
Old Point is semi-private and open for the public to play, with tournaments and small group outings welcomed. Members experience advanced tee times for established league play, as well as golf lessons made available by appointment from club professionals. Full golf memberships include the use of the swimming pool and tennis courts, with practice facilities regularly open for public use.
Belvedere Country Club
The golf course at Belvedere was conceived in the 1970s and has since grown into a beautiful course enjoyed by golfers each year. Belvedere includes a rare combination of six par threes, seven par fours, and five par fives to achieve an impressive par of 71. Located in coastal Hampstead, NC, the front nine brings visitors towards the Intracoastal Waterway and back toward the Clubhouse; the back nine alternately ventures inland before circling back. These pathways combine to form a giant figure 8 without any parallel fairways. The designers chose this interesting layout to guarantee sure tests in the normally windy conditions. This results in breezes coming from every direction during rounds.
Wilmington Municipal Golf Course
Designed by Donald Ross way back in 1926, The Wilmington Municipal Golf Course was created to provide the people of Southeast NC with a beautiful, championship 18-hole golf course at very affordable prices. The course has since been renovated for $1.5 million, restoring it to Ross' original design. Designers have restored the bunkers and doubled the greens, along with upgrading the tee boxes and golf cart paths. This high-quality, renovated gem is a must-see for golf enthusiasts when visiting Wilmington!
Bald Head Island Club
Just minutes from Wilmington and situated on the southernmost of North Carolina's barrier islands, this one-of-a-kind golf destination is accessible only by passenger ferry or private boat ride. The isolated location of Bald Head Island provides ample natural beauty and an escape from the noise of the city; perfect for any golfer looking for a peaceful spot to play. Come for a round at one of the region's premier golf courses, and you'll find an oasis of fun with year-round activities for all ages.
