Buying a Home During Hurricane Season?
If you’re getting close to your move-in date, be prepared. Here in North Carolina, we have all the seasons: Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer, Football, and Hurricane season. The last one, Hurricane Season, can throw a wrench into anyone’s plans (certainly home builders and home buyers). But what’s important to know as you plan your move, is that it is always best to be prepared.
Insure your home
If there is a “named Storm” in the Atlantic, it could temporarily cause the Homeowner’s Insurance Companies to suspend writing any new policies. And if you are working with a lender to finance a new home, you know this could create big-time problems for keeping your plans on track, because you must have insurance in order to close the transaction.
The best way to get ahead of a potentially stressful situation is to start planning early. The sooner you start shopping for insurance, the sooner you can put your insurance agent in touch with your lender. By doing so, they can help expedite getting the information needed to write a policy.
