Summer Lawn Care Tips
Keep your yard healthy this summer with a few tips concerning lawn care.
1. Mow at the Right Height
In the summer, it is best to leave your blades of grass high when mowing to provide shade to the soil. Providing shade leads to less water evaporation which helps prevent weed seeds from germinating.
2. Water Properly
The best time to water your lawn is in the early morning. You want to water before the sun gets too high or after it starts to set. Never water your lawn during mid-day because the sun is way too hot for it to absorb properly.
3. Fertilize Your Yard in Early and Late Summer
Fertilizing your yard is one of the most valuable things you can do for your lawn. It is best to fertilize in early summer so your lawn gets the nutrients it needs before the growing season and at the end of summer to prepare for Fall.
4. Watch Out for Weeds
Weeds seem to come out more in the summer than any other season, so keep an eye out for them. When removing the weeds, dig them out at the root or spot treat them with a weed killer so they do not return.
